World War 2 German SS VT Greatcoat

This spectacularly rare greatcoat is produced in an olive brown wool that is very clean. There are some areas of tracking about the body and a few small holes as well, none being bigger than a worn pencil eraser. That being said, this fantastic coat has two hip pockets that have a flap closure. There are six pair of field grey finished pebbled metal buttons for the coat closure itself. The lower rear has a split with four (one missing) buttons. There is a built-in belt on the rear as well with two buttons. The collar is piped along the front and lower edges with a black cloth/aluminum twist cord. This same piping is found on the collar tabs and the shoulder boards. The collar tabs are produced in a black wool, the Unit tab has the SS runes and the number "1" in a silver/grey cloth thread. This indicates that the wearer was a member of SS Standarte 1/VT "Deutschland". The rank tab has a single silver finished metal pip and a narrow aluminum double tresse with a black stripe down the center. This indicates that he was the equivalent to a Staff Sergeant. The sew-in shoulder boards, also produced in a black wool, have a gothic "D" embroidered in the same silver/grey cloth thread as on the collar tab. The wearer’s left sleeve has an excellent SS eagle, machine embroidered in silver/grey cloth over a black wool background. At the end of the same sleeve is a handsome "Other Ranks" cufftitle with bright aluminum edge trim and the word "Deutschland" embroidered in silver/grey cloth thread. The right sleeve has a perfect "Old Fighters" honor chevron, this has three narrow sections of bright aluminum tresse separated by black cloth thread. All of the insignia on this overcoat is 100% original the interior is partially lined in a heavy-duty field grey cloth, to include the pocket bags. There is an interior pocket on the left side with a lime green oil cloth RZM tag that states all of the makers information, along with the description "Dienstmantel" (or "Service Coat"). There is a large ink stamp of the lining which reads "VA 1936" and another for the size, which looks like "98". There are slots around the waist area for the service belt.
